BREAKING OF BREAD Saturday 2 June

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42

Read: Acts 2:40-43

It is possible to be totally free of sickness for that is God’s desire for us.

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes , I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26.

Healing is good and highly desirable but some people who are well do not appreciate their state of well being. Like it is commonly said, you may not know the value of what you have until you lose it. Can you eat and easily digest it? You need to thank God because there are those who can hardly take any solid food because of their inability to digest it. Can you drink water and easily urinate? Thank God for it because there are those who have to be assisted with that function via dialysis. Thank God for your legs that you can stand, walk and even jump because there are those who have legs but cannot use them for anything.

Healing is good but living a healthy life is better. Better still is carrying the healing virtue. In John 6:5-13, Jesus was faced with the challenge of feeding 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fishes; immediately He broke the bread after He gave thanks, they were multiplied. At the Holy Communion we re-enact the “Breaking of Bread” which symbolises His body that was broken for us (1 Corinthians 11:24). How was His body broken? His body was broken by the stripes He received. These stripes paid the price for our healing, 1 Peter 2:24 says we have been healed by His stripes. But before the breaking of bread comes the giving of thanks, it is the giving of thanks that releases the power for multiplication and healing. As you go in to partake of the Holy Communion, do you give thanks for the body broken for you before requesting the blessing and healing? Know that the power to multiply your blessing and the power to renew your body are both available when bread is broken at the Lord’s Table. Every blessing you can ever desire is available at the Lord’s Table. Just come with your faith giving thanks.

ACTION POINT:
Father, as l approach the Communion table this season, let your healing virtue flow through me to others and multiply my blessing.

Bible in one year: 1 Thessalonians 4-5

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
