HOPE AND FAITHFULNESS Thursday 1 December

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;” (Titus 1:2). READ: Deuteronomy 7:9-11 H ope links with the future. Moreover, there is a link between hope and God because He is the One who controls tomorrow. Anyone in charge of tomorrow is definitely able to uphold hope. Revelation 1:8 says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty”. Hope is linked with tomorrow and God is the One who holds tomorrow. Do not let any man deceive you: no man holds tomorrow except God. This is why James warns against boasting about tomorrow while acknowledging that we need God—the One in control of tomorrow—to enter into the tomorrow of our dreams (James 4:13-16). Many who bragged about tomorrow never lived to see it. If you are wise, you will not only acknowledge God but ensure you live in consonanc

THE MIRAGE SHALL DISAPPEAR Wednesday 30 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” (2 Cor. 13:8) READ: Matthew 9:18, 23-26 T hose who walk by sight follow facts while those who walk by faith follow the truth. While facts are ephemeral, truth is everlasting. While facts are dynamic, truth is constant. Facts are empowered by earthly and sometimes satanic forces while truth is anchored in Heaven. There is a limit to which earthly or satanic forces can push facts, but God will forever stand by His truth. You are either controlled by facts or by truth. Facts can sometimes be used by Satan to create doubt, fear, unbelief and discouragement. Truth is God’s weapon to subdue such evil weapons. When brought side by side, one must give way for the other. 2 Corinthians 13:8 says, “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth”. Truth is impregnable. If falsehood appears to gain ground over the truth, it is only for a moment. Ev

WHEN IT MAKES NO SENSE Tuesday 29 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Cor. 1:18) READ: 1 Corinthians 1:18-19 T here are certain things that God does that appear foolish to man. One of such is the message of the Cross. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. If we were to appeal to logic, there was no sense in Christ – the Sinless One dying for the ungodly. Why would a Holy God sacrifice His only Begotten Son on the Cross of Calvary for His enemies? It makes no sense to man but it does to God. Besides this, there is also the power of the Cross. There is power in the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Although He was crucified and died like a common criminal on the Cross, yet by that death, power is released to defeat the one who held the power of death – Satan. By the death of J

WISDOM PAYS ITS OWNER Monday 28 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct” (Ecc. 10:10) READ: Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 A ccording to James 3:14-18, there is godly wisdom and ungodly wisdom. Ungodly wisdom is the wisdom of the serpent. Being cunning, the devil knows how to get what he wants. Out there, there are many serpents ready to deceive unsuspecting people. However, the wisdom from above is what God expects His children to operate. Some leaders who claim to be led of God, still operate under serpentine wisdom. Proverbs 4:7 says God’s wisdom is the principal thing. Ecclesiastes 7:12 calls it a means of defence. Great nations of the world are what they are today based on wisdom. Israel, though small in size, is a regional power. Ecclesiastes 9:16 says wisdom is better than strength while Ecclesiastes 9:18 says wisdom is far better than weapons of war. There are

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha
