HE STILL SPEAKS Monday 12 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: … but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Isaiah 66:2b

Read: Amos 3:1-3

One clear fact from scriptures is that God speaks. Psalm 62:11 says:

God hath spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

There is power in every word of God. It is therefore very important that you hear what God is saying to the church (Revelation 2:7). When the Lord speaks, it is sometimes quiet especially when He speaks through the still small voice. At such times if you are not quiet and sensitive, you may miss what he is trying to say. This is why Exodus 15:26 says you must diligently hearken to all He has to say. It is common for people to listen to the sweet and interesting passages of the Bible but skip the aspects that are hard to receive. A wise fellow will listen to all and observe everything.

Every year, the Lord gives us prophecies and warnings. Many people ignore the warnings until they see what prayer could have prevented, happening in their midst. When the Lord speaks of some unpleasant occurrences, it is to inform us before hand so that we are not caught unawares. If He says war is coming, it is either you run or get ready. I would prefer the fellow who would criticise and warn me so that I do not get into trouble to the fellow who will assure me all is well, but I get into unknown trap. For this reason, I do not like birthday parties because you will be at the centre of their praise, whereas nobody will tell you your areas of weaknesses. Your best friend is your coach. Those who rebuke you or show you those short comings are your true friends. The one who says there is no one like you will be there to repeat that when you have died out of carelessness. It is truth that sets free. Until you access the truth, you will remain in bondage. What do you want to hear? Do you crave for patronising messages or do you want to hear the truth?

KEY POINT:
The type of message people want to hear influences where they worship. Are you where you are because of what you want to hear or because of what He wants you to hear?

Bible in one year: Matthew 1-4

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
