PAY THE PRICE TO BE RELEVANT Friday 10 February

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. Deuteronomy 28:10

Read: 2 Kings 2:19-25

The presence of the overflowing anointing of God in your life makes you not only blessed, but also a blessing. It is God’s will that the anointing in your life overflows to those around you. In 2 Kings 2:19-25, the anointing on Elisha brought an end to the barrenness and curse on Jericho. In the same vein, a very conspicuous reproach in the life of Naaman was dealt with. When Naaman came to Elisha, without leaving the confines of his house, the latter simply instructed that he should wash seven times in River Jordan and he would be healed of leprosy. Prior to that time, there was no record of anyone receiving healing after washing in the same river. It is therefore manifest that the river had no special healing powers. But as soon as the man of God spoke, the anointing left his mouth and empowered the river to deliver the healing. Is the anointing of God upon your life overflowing for the benefit of others?

Similarly, in 2 Kings 7:11, the terrible siege against Samaria was arrested within 24 hours of the pronouncements by the man of God, and the city moved from extreme lack into abundance. After I became the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1981, I visited my home town in south-west Nigeria and was warmly received. Then I asked how I could be of help to them and the king complained of a nagging problem. For so long, they had been trying to build a road to link Ife with Ifewara but without success and as a result, a journey of 8km turned into that of 52km. I faced the direction of Ife, lifted my hands and called on the One who called me to intervene. Six months later, the Federal Government of Nigeria began to build the road. If the anointing in you is not overflowing, you will not only be robbing your family and loved ones of the benefits that should come to them, but also your community. Elisha paid the price for an overflowing anointing through service and loyalty to his master and he became relevant to his family, friends, community and nation. What price are you ready to pay to have an overflowing anointing which will make you not only relevant to your nation but the world at large?

KEY POINT:
When you pay the price for relevance in the secret place, the manifestation of your relevance will be glaring to all sundry.

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
