EXTENDING MERCY Monday 6 February

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Deuteronomy 5:10

Read: Deuteronomy 5:9-10

God is faithful to His faithful children. You may ask: How long can God keep or deliver His faithful children? Hebrews 7:25 says:

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

He can keep His beloved children in any extremities and to the very end! Praise God! If you can be faithful to God and bring your children up in His ways, he promises to watch over their welfare even for generations, long after you are gone. Deuteronomy 5:10 says:

And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

This implies that, if you love God, His mercy on your life can cover thousands of people who are linked up with you one way or another, we see that in the story of Abraham and Lot (Genesis 18:16; 19:22). This also implies that, if you truly love your family, you will love the Lord so as to provoke His mercy upon your family. If you as a parent are living in sin, you can bring God’s judgement upon your innocent children and generations up to fourth generation if they do not get to know the Lord! If you are such, then you are not different from Gehazi who brought leprosy upon his entire lineage.

God is also the sustainer of His children. The weakest of them that lean on Him, will endure more than the largest or strongest that does not. Or else, how could the church at Philadelphia with little strength (Revelations 3:7-8), endure up till this day while others have become history? That you are weak or have little strength does not mean you will become extinct. Just key into the limitless strength of the Lord and you will be sustained by His strength alone. Are you strong? Or is your church strong? Never put your trust in your strength or else it will fail you. As you trust in the Lord from today, you shall not fail or fall. The Lord will keep you until He comes back for you.

KEY POINT:
Those in Christ who are weak, are stronger than the strong because they have access to the unlimited strength of Christ.

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
