DIVINE CALL Sunday 12 February

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

Read: Mark 3:13-15

One of the greatest things that can happen to a man or woman is to be called by God. Those He called were not elected or voted for yet He called them. Psalm 115:3 says God does whatever He likes in Heaven. It is a great privilege to be called by God and a greater privilege to be ordained by Him.

And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would; and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, Mark 3:13-14

After He called to Himself as many as He would, He only ordained 12. That He chose you at all is enough reason to remain humble. You are not better than those He did not choose. Who are those He chooses? 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 says He chooses the foolish and weak. For some reason, he hardly chooses the strong and wise. Thank God He chose you!

Why did God choose you? He chose you so that you can become a vessel of honour in His hands. You can be assured that God sustains those He calls. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says:

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

In Exodus 3:11-12, when Moses was told to go and bring out the children of Israel from Egypt, he was afraid but God assured him of His presence. Has God called you? He will sustain you. Do not fear the assignment He has given to you it may look quite enormous like the one given to Moses. It may also be full of dangers and difficulties; but as long as you are sure He is the One who assigned you, He will be there to see you through; after all, He knew your frailty before He called and assigned you (Psalm 103:14). If you do not need God, He will not call you. If you believe you are self-sufficient, God’s call is not for you. But if you see how much you need Him, you can be assured that He will not only call you, but will also use you to demonstrate His power, making you a star in the process. To what extent do you rely on your Caller?

ACTION POINT:
Thank God for 30 minutes over His call upon your life. Ask Him for grace not to fail Him over the call.

Bible in one year: 2 Samuel 13-15

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
