Memorise: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Read: Matthew 11:28-30
Moses was ready to reject any promotion, progress or
prosperity that was not backed up by God’s presence. Do everything you need to
do and pay every price you need to pay for God to be with and remain with you.
There are a whole lot of benefits from His presence.
And he said, My
presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him,
if thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. Exodus 33:14-15
Also, in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus promises rest to those who
come to Him. This rest is an all-encompassing rest. Are you burdened with a
particular care? Is it turning your hairs grey before the time? What you need
is the divine presence, for there is rest for you in God’s presence. If God is
with you, it will show in the level of rest you enjoy. You cannot have Him with
you and you remain troubled. Do you need true rest in every area of your life
and ministry? Ask for God’s presence as never before.
Another benefit of God’s presence is that it is a mark of
God’s favour (Exodus 33:16). Is God with you? Oh how favoured you are! In
addition, God’s presence with you is a mark of Heaven’s recognition. In Exodus
33:17, God told Moses: “I know you by
name”. Every Born-again Christian ought to enjoy this level of intimacy
with God, for Paul writing to the church at Galatia said:
But now, after that ye
have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and
beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Galatians 4:9
Does God address you by name? Another benefit is that, it is
those that carry God’s presence that God will show His glory. If God is with
you, be prepared to see what eyes have not seen. Moses saw the glory of God and
you too can. Ask for His ever-abiding, tangible presence from today.
PRAYER POINT:
In every area I am troubled or disturbed, Father, give me
rest today through Your presence.
Bible in One year: Genesis 30-32
