WHERE IS THE OVERFLOW? Sunday 29 January

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; Psalms 133:2

Read: Acts 19:11-12

Recently, I went to America and visited a book shop to buy some tapes. An American came and introduced himself to me and shook me. Immediately after the handshake, he asked: “What happened?” Unknown to me the man was suffering from pains on his hands and one of his legs but he observed that the pain had suddenly disappeared from both the hands and leg. As I moved further from there, the man began to ask those with me: “Who is this man?” Thereafter, he returned and asked for another handshake. This season, the anointing of God on you will spread to others. It is worth nothing that anointing is not just for the benefit of the anointed. God expects the anointing to overflow to others. An African adage says: When the eyes are full of water, they would drop on the nose. Do you know that the anointing can so overflow through you that you will become a mighty vessel in God’s hands?

When David was anointed, the anointing on him flowed to a lamb that was already grabbed by a lion for meat and delivered it. God expects you to protect the flock of God with the anointing He has placed in you. If you say you are anointed yet the enemy comes in at will to do whatever he likes with members of your flock or family, it simply means, either you have lost your anointing or it is barely enough for you, hence there is no overflow. Show me a congregation who is under divine cover and I will show you a pastor with an overflowing anointing. In the same vein, if you are a father, and you are born again, God gives you an anointing that should overflow to your children and wards. If members of your family easily fall sick, lose things or come under different attacks from the enemy’s territory, it is an indication that the anointing is not flowing to members of that family. If that is the experience in your family, ask your husband or daddy: ‘Daddy, where is the overflow?’ This overflow should move from house fellowship leaders to members, from the Believers class teacher to the students, etc. Just as the anointing overflowed from Aaron’s head to his beard and down to his skirts, so should the anointing overflow from the spiritual head to subordinates (Psalms 133:2).

PRAYER POINT:
Father, let your anointing in me overflow to others in need of it.
Bible in one year: Numbers 7-10

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
