HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM Wednesday 25 January

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

Read: Romans 8:26-27

Beyond the experience of salvation and sanctification, the Lord wants to take you further by baptising you with the Holy Spirit.

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Zechariah 4:6

After God has cleansed you and given you a heart of flesh, you will begin to hunger to do His will. You will realise you cannot do so on your own. You will desire to pray but you will not be able to pray correctly. This is one of the reasons the Holy Spirit is given to us: To help us overcome such limitations (Romans 8:26).

In the days after I received Christ into my heart, we had prayer time at the end of the sermon during Sunday service. We were free to pray as we liked. On saying the Lord’s Prayer, I would not know what to say next just after about five minutes. I would raise my head to see if anybody was standing, if none was standing, I would go over another five minutes prayer. Since I did not want to be first to stand up, I would stay where I was, enduring prayer time. But the day the Holy Spirit came upon me, the power of God took over my life. Now, I can pray for hours non stop. Have you received the baptism in the Holy Spirit? There is little you can do without Him. The Christian life will be a bore without Him. Christian service will be a thing to be endured, not enjoyed if you have not experienced the Holy Spirit baptism. The promise of the Spirit is yours. If you are born again, ask for the fullness of the Spirit on you. Ask in faith today and you will be filled with the Spirit.

PRAYER POINTS:
Father, baptize me with the Holy Ghost and fire according to your promise in Luke 3:16. Lord, let there be a fresh pouring of Your Spirit upon the Body of Christ worldwide.

Bible in one year: Hebrews 8-10

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha...

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop...
