ANY KNOCKS? Wednesday 11 January

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: And it came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul’s skirt. 1 Samuel 24:5

Read: 1 Samuel 24:1-6

When you are born again, you become a brand new person (2 Corinthians 5:17). Salvation is crucial and precious hence Mark 8:36 says gaining the whole world at the expense of one’s soul profits nothing. You must never allow anything or anyone to rob you of your salvation. There are experiences in your Christian walk beyond salvation. At salvation, God cleanses all your past sins, destroys old queries in your heavenly file and gives you a new beginning, but it doesn’t end there. Your new nature in Christ given at salvation needs to be made manifest in your experience of sanctification. By this, you manifest the ability to crave a holy life. Beyond just washing your sins away, the Lord gives you a new heart. According to Ezekiel 36:26, He replaces your heart of stone with a heart of flesh. Why? Jeremiah 17:9 says your original heart is desperately wicked. From it proceeds all evil thoughts and schemes (Matt 15:19).

The type of heart you have will indicate whether you are saved and sanctified or still in your sins. If you say you are born again but your heart never pricks you when you sin, you are in a very dangerous situation. From 1 Timothy 4:2 we understand that some who had known the Lord will fall from the faith having their conscience seared with a hot iron. If you lie and your heart is not pricked then your conscience is dead. If your God-given conscience, given to checkmate intended evil actions, no longer convicts you of wrong doing, or has been intimidated by you to the point of it never condemning you of wrong doing, then know you are very close to destruction. A dead heart will take its owner to hell. The heart that can take you to Heaven is a sensitive heart. In 1 Samuel 24:1-6, David found King Saul sleeping and he cut off his skirt, yet his sensitive heart did not let him rest. Today, some so-called Christians can kill a fellow human being and get no knocks from their dead hearts. What kind of heart do you have?

PRAYER POINT:
Father, every heart of stone operating in Your church today, replace with hearts of flesh.

IDOLS FRUSTRATE EXPECTATIONS Monday 27 August

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. Proverbs 10:28 Read: Isaiah 44:10-18 B efore you receive a prophetic declaration, check out the fruit of the vessel-the prophet, pastor, or servant of God, whether the fellow is still in league with God. Some people say, “thus says the Lord,” but the Lord did not say anything to them. Some of them heard from themselves and spoke. Be careful of what you accept as being from God. In Jeremiah 28:1-4, Hananiah a prophet prophesied that in two years God was going to set Israel free from the yoke of the king of Babylon, but it was all a lie! Imagine the joy of the people when they heard that. But after two years, and the prophecy did not come to pass, all the expectations of the people failed. Instead of two years, they spent 70 years. In others, the prophetic lies of prophets cannot change what God want to do or alter its tim...

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop...
