HEAR HIM Sunday 1 January

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. Psalm 85:8

Happy New Year and welcome to 2012! Everything on earth has a beginning. How you start an undertaking is very important as it sets the tone for how it will progress and end. My prayer for you is that you may begin this year in such a way as to get the best from it in Jesus name. We learn from Apostle Paul in today’s reading that, one great way to start an assignment is to be taught of God and to receive the word from God, little wonder he made such great impact. Start your year with a Word from God. Every year, God has something to say to you about the New Year. According to Genesis 1:1-3, when God sent His Word, it brought about a world of difference right at the beginning. Do you know that God has something to say about your life, family, ministry, business, academic pursuits and other plans you have for this New Year? Many people plan their year without consulting the One who controls tomorrow; No wonder many of such plans never see the light of the day! If you are ready to listen, God is ready to release the Word that will give meaning to your new year. The question is: Are you ready to wait on Him to receive the Word?

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

It is commonly said, first things first. Taking a step before hearing from God on an issue amounts to putting the cart before the horse. You can imagine the kind of motion that will result from that. This year, do not take any major step in any direction without first hearing from Him. This means, you will acquaint Him with all your plans and programmes through prayer. Tell Him everything and leave out no detail. Seek His guidance on the issues and patiently wait on Him to hear what He will say to you. When you wait as long as it takes to hear from Him on a particular matter, he will speak peace to you.

I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. Psalm 85:8

Some people think it is a waste of time to wait to hear Him before venturing into anything. No! It is no waste. Rather, it will save you a lot of headaches. Every movement without the Mover’s direction results in inputs without outputs.

ACTION POINT:
Thank God throughout today for being able to enter into this year. If you want a world of change, receive the Word.
Bible in One year: Genesis 1-2

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
