COUNSEL: HOW MISLEADING? Friday 30 September

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? Who hath marked his word, and heard it?” (Jer. 23:18).

READ: Jeremiah 23:30-32

In Thyatira, commercial activities were taken over by the occult. To be relevant in business, the inhabitants were made to join in the idolatrous unions which publicly worshipped in their temple feasts. In the church at Thyatira, there was a very influential woman who called herself a prophetess. She was rich and wielded so much influence over the church. She told the brethren in the church to join the unions and participate in the sins of the land and they obeyed because she was one of their leaders. This was an abuse of power! We should find out what Heaven calls us. It is very important. In the church, this woman called herself prophetess so and so. Everybody called her a prophetess and related with her as one but Jesus called her Jezebel. Are you known and addressed as bishop, archbishop, prophet, pastor, world evangelist, senior pastor, Reverend, etc? Before you recline in that toga, find out what the Lord calls you.

Your works also determine the name Heaven will assign to you. You may have an angelic name but if your works are devilish, you will end up with a satanic name. If you do not want to be misled, seriously consider the name Heaven gives to you and to those around you. If God calls you a thief, even if the whole world says you are not, you are a thief. Today, many Christians are falling victims of some so-called men and women of God because they are still judging them by their past lives of holiness, righteousness and truth. If only they can go to God to access the true state of these leaders, they would never fall prey. Leaders must be very careful how they advise their members. It is wrong to take advantage of your flock and mislead them. Never play God in the lives of your members. Remember that you will give account of every one that you mislead (Hebrews 13:17). Besides, those people who are going from one prophet to another will end up in the devil’s pot of soup. Beware! If your counsel is driving counselees to hell, you will share the same eternal destination with them.

PRAYER POINT:
If your counsel will offend God, keep it to yourself. Father, henceforth, every leader with the desire to steal and not to serve, reverse their blessing.

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
