MAN, NOT ANIMAL Saturday 30 July

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Gen. 1:28).

Read: Genesis 1:26-28

To make success in life, you must know your identity. Going by John’s experience, every child of God is a voice. May you be heard in Jesus name. To have a clear definition of who you are, you must be able to know who you are not. An understanding of this helps to clear misconceptions and wrong notions you have held about yourself. The source of knowing who you are and who you are not is the Bible—the love book of the Almighty God and Father. First, you are not an animal. God created you in His own image. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”. Science hardly sees any major difference between human beings and animals. In the theory of evolution, it is supposed that man evolved from lower species of animals and then graduated into apes and then man. In other words, human beings are only a step away from animals.

You are not an animal! You exist only in the realm that is peculiar to a human being but unexplored by animals. Some parents and teachers call their children and students by the names of animals, this is wrong! There is no human being that can be so stupid to the point of becoming an animal. In the same way, there is no animal so wise and brilliant that is accepted as a fellow human being. There is no crossing of kinds. As foolish as the most foolish human being can be, it is rather too late; he could never be an animal. As a human being, you are created in the image of God. This was never said of animals. This means that one way of fulfilling the purpose of your creation is having a godly nature. God never compares animals with Himself, but men are compared with God because they were created to be like Him. Although Moses told Pharaoh that the Israelites were leaving with their cattle in order to serve God in the wilderness, the animals were only meant as objects of sacrifice, and not co-worshippers. You are no animal! You are created in the image of God.

ACTION POINT:
Although we are no animals, many people still operate like animals. Pray that God should uproot every animalistic instinct in you.

IDOLS FRUSTRATE EXPECTATIONS Monday 27 August

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. Proverbs 10:28 Read: Isaiah 44:10-18 B efore you receive a prophetic declaration, check out the fruit of the vessel-the prophet, pastor, or servant of God, whether the fellow is still in league with God. Some people say, “thus says the Lord,” but the Lord did not say anything to them. Some of them heard from themselves and spoke. Be careful of what you accept as being from God. In Jeremiah 28:1-4, Hananiah a prophet prophesied that in two years God was going to set Israel free from the yoke of the king of Babylon, but it was all a lie! Imagine the joy of the people when they heard that. But after two years, and the prophecy did not come to pass, all the expectations of the people failed. Instead of two years, they spent 70 years. In others, the prophetic lies of prophets cannot change what God want to do or alter its tim...

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop...
