YOUTH: HOW DECENT? Saturday 30 June

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise:   Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.  1Timothy 4:16
Read: 1Timothy 4:12-16
If you will be relevant in God’s plan for the last days, you must totally discard this end time instant gratification bug. Today, many students are after instant education. Obtain your degree now! This is why education standards are falling in Nigeria universities and tertiary institutions. We have to return to core values in our educational system. Too much emphasis is being place on certificates. It is not all about certificate. Anybody can buy one from the shelf of fraudsters and call himself or herself a graduate. The certified must prove by their performance and character that they earned the paper they carry. If they cannot prove this, it is most likely that certificate was stolen. Let us return to the era of merit. Let us go back to adopting true, healthy value system that can move us forward.
God is not happy with half-baked people. If the disciples of Christ were half-baked, we would have completely lost the essence of Christianity by now. Speaking to the youthful pastor Timothy, Paul admonished him to attend to reading, exhortation and to doctrine (1 Timothy 4:13). God still wants you to pay attention to studying the Word of God and reading books to develop yourself. Youths are expected by God to be examples to their nation in word, life-style, love, spirit, faith and in purity.  As a youth, your dressing should show that you are not conforming with the word. Your clothes must be right. Your hair must be trimmed and combed. No wearing of dread locks. No sagging- allowing your trousers to drop to reveal your pant. That is madness! No miniskirts or undue exposure of what should be covered as a lady. Be decent. You are a youth for Jesus so remember to stay different in order to glorify God.

KEY POINT:
Get your basics right. As a Christian youth, you must not bring shame to the Lord because of half-baked education.
Bible in One year: Psalms 70-72

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop...

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha...

DROP THOSE EXCUSES! Wednesday 22 August

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whatsoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Romans 2:1 Read: Exodus 3:10-16 A fter his experience of the supernatural and God introducing Himself to Moses, he was given a specific assignment. He objected with reasons but they were not accepted. From this we learn that when God has decided to send you on an assignment, no excuse is good enough. You will notice that the more Moses excused himself from embarking on that assignment, the angrier God became (Exodus 4:13-14). Making excuses to avoid doing what God has assigned to you will easily put you on the wrong side of God’s judgement. Excuses can move you from God’s right hand to His left, from favour to disfavour, from blessing to curses. Has the Lord given you an assignment and you are piling up reasons for not obeying? You are to...
