WHEN IT MAKES NO SENSE Tuesday 29 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Cor. 1:18)

READ: 1 Corinthians 1:18-19

There are certain things that God does that appear foolish to man. One of such is the message of the Cross. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. If we were to appeal to logic, there was no sense in Christ – the Sinless One dying for the ungodly. Why would a Holy God sacrifice His only Begotten Son on the Cross of Calvary for His enemies? It makes no sense to man but it does to God. Besides this, there is also the power of the Cross. There is power in the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Although He was crucified and died like a common criminal on the Cross, yet by that death, power is released to defeat the one who held the power of death – Satan. By the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross, Satan’s captives were released from bondage of the fear of death. Today, if you access the blood of Jesus by faith, you will be delivered from fear. The death of Christ on the Cross, not only makes salvation from sin possible, but also helps to sustain it (1 John 1:7).

“Which one of the princes of this world knew: for had they know it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Cor. 2:8). Like men, Satan is limited in knowledge. One thing he never knew was the power of the Cross. During His earthly ministry, Jesus was the major headache of the satanic kingdom. He kept undoing what they had done over the years. So they decided to take His life. If only Satan had known that the death of Jesus on the Cross, would, instead of ending his problems, compound them, he would not have killed Him. If he knew that the death of Jesus would finalize his defeat, he would have allowed Jesus to go without any harassment. In your life, as long as you allow Jesus to have His way, even when it appears you have been defeated by the enemies, do not fret. Sooner than later, you will find yourself the winner of the battle. Is God’s way of dealing with you sounding foolish? It is only normal. Ask God for the grace to obey His seemingly foolish instructions.

ACTION POINT:
Obey all His instructions whether or not you think they are wise or foolish.

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
