UNDER AUTHORITY Tuesday 12 June

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. Luke 7:7

Read: Luke 7:1-10

One person who understood authority and order is the Centurion of Luke 7:1-10. When he met Jesus and asked of Him healing for his sick servant, he asked the Lord not to bother coming to his house as he was not worthy of such honour. He only requested a word from Jesus to heal his servant where he was. By this, the centurion was saying he recognised the link between Jesus and His Father hence a word of command from Jesus would be like His Father was the One dishing it out. Being a soldier under Caesar, the centurion could issue orders to soldiers under him and they would obey, not because of him, but because of his master Caesar.

From this encounter the Centurion had with Jesus, it is glaring that what you know will determine the extent you can go. You can never go above your knowledge. But it is not just what you know but acting out what you know. Many people have knowledge but they never apply it. The knowledge that is not applied is useless to the one who has it. To what extent have you applied your knowledge of God’s Word to change your situation? What you don’t know brings a limitation into your life. The more ignorant you are, the more limited you will be and the less value anybody can derive from you. Show me a man that people get blessed from whenever he takes a sermon, talk or exhortation, and l will show you a man who pays a price to acquire knowledge. To what extent are you seeking knowledge today? In addition, that link between the Father and Jesus is extended to us. That is, when you command demons, sicknesses and problems and they obey, it is not because of your powerful, baritone voice, your dressing or even your make up; it is because of the authority that is backing you- the authority of Jesus. When you cast out devils, they will say: “Imagine this little rat who was born just yesterday issuing orders to us! Anyway, we have to obey or else be roasted by the Consuming Fire”. This is why you must never break your link with Jesus.

KEY POINT:
It takes you being under God’s authority to operate by His authority.

Bible in one year: 1 John 1-2

  5. Ignorance is a price paid for foolishness just as knowledge is a price paid for wisdom. I choose the way of the Lord, I choose the way of wisdom. It's profitable.

IDOLS FRUSTRATE EXPECTATIONS Monday 27 August

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. Proverbs 10:28 Read: Isaiah 44:10-18 B efore you receive a prophetic declaration, check out the fruit of the vessel-the prophet, pastor, or servant of God, whether the fellow is still in league with God. Some people say, “thus says the Lord,” but the Lord did not say anything to them. Some of them heard from themselves and spoke. Be careful of what you accept as being from God. In Jeremiah 28:1-4, Hananiah a prophet prophesied that in two years God was going to set Israel free from the yoke of the king of Babylon, but it was all a lie! Imagine the joy of the people when they heard that. But after two years, and the prophecy did not come to pass, all the expectations of the people failed. Instead of two years, they spent 70 years. In others, the prophetic lies of prophets cannot change what God want to do or alter its tim...

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop...
