HEALING: POSSIBLE THROUGH YOU Tuesday 4 January

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:18)

READ: Mark 16: 17-18

Testimonies are powerful tools that can motivate the hearers to overcome their present challenges. No wonder Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death”. Any testimony worth its salt must be able to stir up the faith of the hearers to say: ‘If the testifier could arrive at that point of victory, then it is equally possible for me the hearer ’. The day an 86-year-old man testified how he was miraculously healed, I decided Jesus Christ would be my personal doctor from that day on. By god’s grace, it is over 35 years now that the Lord has been my faithful physician. If there is one thing you should testify to about God, it is that He is the Great Physician. Also that if you follow Him, He will perform healings through you. According to Mark 16:17-18, the ability to lay hands on the sick and they receive their healing is not limited to pastors and ministers of the Gospel, but everyone who believes in Jesus, and receives Him as Lord and Saviour. But what if you lay hands and pray for the sick but nothing happens? Go to another sick person! Do not be discouraged. You are not the healer. Yours is to lay hands and pray and let God do the healing. Soon, you will get results.

When you want to pray for the sick, you can start from your little level and grow from there. Some people, who have never successfully prayed for healing of a mere headache, want God to use them to cure terminal diseases. You don’t start from the top, but from the bottom. When I started laying hands on the sick, I was operating at a very low level. I started with my children. When they are sick, I will keep some aspirin aside so that if nothing happens after the laying on of hands, I would administer the drugs. God honoured my faith. Usually, five minutes after praying, they would be okay. When I saw this working on my children, I took another step towards my friends as I was sure they will not tell anybody, should they fail to be healed. But God has been faithful. Have you obeyed God’s words to pray for the sick? Have you exercised your faith in bringing healing to the sick?

KEY POINT:
How will you know if you carry the healing anointing when you fail to pray for the sick?

Bible in one year: Prov. 12-14

IDOLS FRUSTRATE EXPECTATIONS Monday 27 August

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. Proverbs 10:28 Read: Isaiah 44:10-18 B efore you receive a prophetic declaration, check out the fruit of the vessel-the prophet, pastor, or servant of God, whether the fellow is still in league with God. Some people say, “thus says the Lord,” but the Lord did not say anything to them. Some of them heard from themselves and spoke. Be careful of what you accept as being from God. In Jeremiah 28:1-4, Hananiah a prophet prophesied that in two years God was going to set Israel free from the yoke of the king of Babylon, but it was all a lie! Imagine the joy of the people when they heard that. But after two years, and the prophecy did not come to pass, all the expectations of the people failed. Instead of two years, they spent 70 years. In others, the prophetic lies of prophets cannot change what God want to do or alter its tim...

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop...
