BEYOND UNDERSTANDING! Thursday 22 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. Isaiah 40:28

Read: Isaiah 40:21-28

God is love. It is commonly assumed that everybody knows who God is but this is not true. Some years ago, while in France, I was opportune to be a guest of the then Nigeria Ambassador to France. He organized a reception for me one evening and invited other ambassadors. At some point, I was asked to bring greetings to those around so I used the opportunity to talk about the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God. At the end of the talk, I made an altar call and about four of the ambassadors received Christ. By the time we began to eat, one of the ambassadors came to me and asked: “What is God?” It was then it dawned on me that I talked about the Son of man without introducing who God is.

Who is God? It is quite difficult to define God, Isaiah 40:28 says there is no searching of His understanding. Our understanding is too minute to fully comprehend who God is. How can you fully understand the one who is love and at the same time a Consuming fire (1 John 4:8, Hebrews 12:29)? From the perspective of love, you would want to embrace or hug the person in question but who would hug a consuming fire? How can you fully comprehend someone who according to 2 Chronicles 6:18 is so massive that the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? How do you picture someone who sits in heaven while using the earth as His footstool and yet He could be so small that He lives inside of Human beings? 1 John 4:4 says:

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

What can be said of someone who dwells inside millions of His children and at the same time sits on His throne in Heaven and knows everything about everyone everywhere – in Heaven, on earth, in the galaxies and underneath the earth? How can you understand someone who in Psalm 24:10 is called the Ultimate Commander, yet He asks His creatures to command Him when it relates to the works of His hands (Isaiah 45:11)? God is beyond our understanding!

PRAYER POINT:
Lord, reveal yourself to me.

Bible in one year: Numbers 25-27

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
