ELIJAH AND THE ANOINTING Wednesday 8 February

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9

Read: 1 Kings 18:36-38

Holiness is very important and key to being anointed. The secret of Elijah’s success in ministry was holiness and total obedience. He did not know how to argue with God and that is holiness. Today, many believers are still at loggerheads with the King of glory. When God wants them to sit, they say they want to stand. When He asks that offerings should be given cheerfully, they do it grudgingly. Do you know that the way you offer your gift before God has a way of affecting what you receive? If you give grudgingly, you will receive in like measure. The moment I discovered the need to live a holy life, my life took a positive and easy turn. Are you totally obedient to God?

Elijah was untouchable to his enemies because of the anointing. Those who tried to touch him were roasted alive (2 Kings 1:10). In addition, he had unusual strength. There was no record of him being sick, not even for once because he was holy and the anointing of God was upon him. His needs were supernaturally met. At some point, birds brought him food; later, a widow and at another time, an angel brought him food. Besides, his prayers were answered by fire (1 Kings 18:36-38). His prayer on mount Camel was for less than two minutes yet, the fire fell. His words were decrees. In 1 Kings 17:1, he said there would be no rain, and it was so. He could easily hear from God (1 Kings 17:2; 1 Kings 18:1). It is a beautiful thing to hear from God. You don’t have to be a prophet to hear Him. Another thing I like about Elijah is that he did not taste death (2 Kings 2:9-12). Holiness prepares you for the rapture and for Heaven. If only you can live a holy life and totally obey God, you can experience God’s mighty moves in your life.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, from today, let holiness and total obedience be my lifestyle.

Bible in one year: Job 1-4

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
