BECOMING LIKE HIM Sunday 15 January

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Memorise: But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18

Read: 2 Corinthians 3:13-18

The company you keep influences your life. You gradually take the form, character, traits, likes, dislikes, habits and nature of those you associate with. This could have a negative or positive impact on your life. If you move with the wrong crowd, you will become like them. If you are a close associate of a thief, no matter how much you hate stealing, sooner or later, you will start making excuses for the thief or even join the fellow to steal. Little wonder 1 Corinthians 15:33 says:

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

Do you know that, just as it is easier for someone downhill to pull down somebody from uphill so it is easier for somebody with loose morals to negatively affect someone with good morals? This is why you must keep unsaved friends at some distance – to enable you reach out to them, but safe enough to keep you from falling prey to the sins that have enslaved them. This year, you must separate from anything that can severe your relationship with Christ.

On the positive side however, you can become more like Jesus if only you can find time to be with Him. Yes, you can become like the Lord through association.

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18

Stay in His presence. Make sure you attend regular meetings with God and His people. At home, find time to be in His presence with your family, feasting on His Word, praising and worshipping Him. Do everything you can to increase the number of times you come into His presence and you will see yourself taking on His nature, putting on the Lord Jesus. This will make situations, circumstances, friends and foes to respond positively to you. Some people cannot even read a chapter of the Bible for a day; they are only robbing themselves of His glory. Do you know that if you read 40 chapters a day, you can finish the whole Bible in one month? You should read or listen to several chapters each day and meditate on some of the passages and you will gradually become like Him.

ACTION POINT:
If you don’t want to be like the person you are moving with, separate from that fellow today.

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
