IT’S GOOD TO TEST Monday 7 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thess. 5:21)

READ: 1 Thess. 5:21-22

If you love God, you will find yourself hating all that God hates. One thing that is expected of every bona fide believer in Christ is a probing mind. Without a probing, curious and meticulous mindset, the average believer might be prone to deception. In Matthew 24:24, Jesus warns: “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect”. Why should you prove all things? It is because Satan has sent several counterfeits into the spiritual market place. If you are not probing and spiritually discerning enough, you might end up purchasing fake spiritual products. Today, there exists fake or counterfeit versions of every gift of the Holy Spirit. If you see them in manifestation, you could be convinced they are the original. If you look from a distance, you would most probably be deceived. But if you look closely and compare every component with that of the original as spelt out by the Word of God, you will realize you were dealing with fakes.

If you really love God, and hate evil, you will adopt the attitude of the Berean Jews to first probe everything they were given and compare it with the Word of God before accepting or rejecting it (Acts 17:10-11). Do not accept just any doctrine flying in the air because there are many doctrines being taught in many places that the Bible calls doctrines of devils (1 Tim. 4:1). Some leaders have brought satanic doctrine from the spiritual market place without discerning it. They are spreading same to others. This must stop! The Word of God is the standard. Anything that negates this supreme counsel must be abandoned with speed. How discerning are you? Do you take time to prove all things? How probing is your mind? Do you take nutty issues to the Holy Spirit to help you out? It is after probing things that you should hold fast to the good ones and abandon the evil ones. Carry out a thorough evaluation of your beliefs and compare them with the Bible. Know the ones to adopt and sustain, but those that conflicts with God’s Word must be thrown into the trash can.

ACTION POINT:
Proving or probing things is something God cannot do for you but will assist you in, if you really want to do it. Ask for a spiritually discerning mind.

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
