WHO DO YOU FEAR? Saturday 22 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

MEMORIZE: “who is among you that feareth the LORD, that the voice of his servant, that walked in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.” (Isa.50:10).

READ: Hebrews 2:14-15

Apart from being a merciful and compassionate God, another lesson we learn from 1 Kings 17:17-24 is that God answers prayers. Hence, Psalm 65:2 says, “O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come”. That God raised the woman’s son back to life shows He can answer any prayer as long as there is no sin to prevent Him (Isaiah 59:1-2). Do note that God hears prayers, not queries or complaints. If you are issuing God queries, you are simply wasting your time. He is the Almighty and sovereign God, He therefore answers at His timing and at His own convenience. If you want Him to answer you, then you must be prepared to wait for Him. If you cannot wait on Him for answers, you can be assured of bungling the entire prayer process.

In addition, we learn that God has power over death. He is the Controller of death. Nothing dies without His approval. Anything He allows to die, He can also bring back to life. Hence, in Revelation 1:18, He says He has the key of hell and death. One spirit that most people fear is death. Some fear death so much that they fail to recognize or fear the One who has power over death. There is one person death fears and that is the Almighty God. Just as men quake before death, the spirit of death fears and quakes at the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ: its Creator. It knows that a day is coming when it shall be destroyed by our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:25-26). In fact, Revelation 20:14 says the spirit of death is going to be cast into the lake of fire at the Great White Throne Judgement. How the spirit of death and Satan dread this day! If death fears its Creator and Controller, how come those who fear death fail to fear the Creator of death? Are you afraid of death? If you are born-again and living in total obedience to God, you have no reason to fear death. As long as Jesus lives inside you, you have nothing in common with death. Stop quaking with fear for death; you shall not die before your time. Remember children of God don’t die. They only sleep in the Lord.

PRAYER POINT
Father, keep me from the bondage of fear
Bible in One year: Jer. 27-29

BENEFITS OF UNITY Sunday 27 November

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) READ: Acts 2:1-4 U nity is a powerful force in the universe. However, uniting against God, His Word or His children causes God to arise in defence of His Name. This is the other side of power of unity. Barring this, unity can accomplish almost anything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6, God said that if the people of the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving plans and purposes. But if operated in righteousness within the Christian fold, it is even more powerful. “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it sha

YOUR VOICE SHALL BE HEARD Wednesday 26 October

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye MEMORIZE: “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.” (Psalm 18:44). READ: Psalm 18:43-45 W hen Bartimaeus was steps away from his breakthrough, the crowd around him shouted him down. But by the grace of God, he doubled his efforts and cried out the more. He simply told the crowd: ‘If you think you have heard noise you have not heard anything yet’. The reality is that if you need help and send a faint cry in the midst of a crowd, they will want to shut you up. But if your cry is unparalleled, defying the voices of the opposition, there would be a general consensus by the crowd for you to be attended to, at least so that they can have their peace. This season, by the mercy of God, there will be a meeting of the crowd hindering your blessing and their consensus would be that you receive immediate attention. Another lesson from this story is that while peop
